8 Wonders of Bourbon County

The Tourism Committee of the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 8 Wonders of Bourbon County project. Nominations for the wonders were sought from the public through August, with 37 unique nominations being received from over 50 submissions. After the Tourism Committee voted on the finalists, winners were announced during a special presentation on October 23.

Identifying the wonders was particulary difficult, because there were so many worthy nominations. However, ulitimately, voting came down to two main criteria: whether or not the wonder could be visited by a tourist and the overall impact the wonder had on the Bourbon County community.
