Rozel, population 156, is located in Pawnee County.  It's the home of Gary Patterson, successful football coach at Texas Christian University.  The town is named after the daughter of the land grant agent.  Her name was Roseila but the town name was altered to Rozel.

Towns may be small but they are home to some really important agri-businesses.  Where does food come from?  Towns like Rozel...

The Main Street Bar and Grill, 104 N. Main (620.527.4266), is so good!  The staff is friendly and much of the food is made-from-scratch.  The walls are lined with historical photos of Rozel.  The day we were there it was packed!  Open Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

And, high school students helped make the iron cut-out foot scraper sign.  You know you're in a thriving town, no matter the size, when everyone pitches in for the good of the town.

We had just eaten a Moosette burger in Burdett and got to Rozel around 1:30 p.m.  We were just going to poke our heads in but a friendly waitress said hwo very tasty the burgers were so, before you know it, we found ourselves eating Main Street Grill burgers, though mine was called a slider.  Even on top of a Moosette burger it was still mighty tasty!  The do steaks on Saturday night.  It's worth driving out of the way for this place.

Nice benches on main street!

You gotta love these kind of city hall buildings.  Lots of information posted in front.  In the case of Rozel, they also have the city community center across the street, right next to the restaurant.  We were there on primary election day.  The block was packed with cars - a wonderful sight.

The Jordaan Foundation provided funds for this great park.  Young families must love this.

Pawnee Heights High School, home of the Tigers, is located in Rozel.  It's so good to see a high school in a small town!

There are plenty of reminders in Rozel of times gone by but don't let that fool you into thinking that there isn't a lot of good things going on in Rozel today.
Just stop by the Main Street Grill and you'll see!
